The terms, in plain words.
pdfmd.dev is run by Dark Vector Cognition LLC, a Texas company. By using the site, its API or its assistant connector, you agree to these terms. Effective October 1, 2026.
What you get
pdfmd.dev converts PDF files to Markdown on the web, through a REST API and through an MCP connector for AI assistants. The free tool needs no account and has a daily allowance per IP address. Paid plans give an API key and a monthly page allowance. Current allowances, file limits and prices are on the pricing page.
Your documents
You keep every right to the files you convert and to the Markdown you get back. Only convert documents you have the right to process. What happens to a file during conversion, and what is and is not kept, is set out on the privacy page.
Conversion is automatic. Tables, columns, scanned pages and unusual layouts can come out imperfect, so check the Markdown before you rely on it for anything that matters.
Paid plans and API keys
Plans are monthly subscriptions paid on Stripe's hosted checkout. Your API key is shown once after payment. Keep it secret: anyone holding it can use your allowance, and you are responsible for use of your key. A plan renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Manage subscription form on the pricing page; cancelling stops the next renewal and your key keeps working until the end of the period you paid for. If a charge looks wrong, write to us and we will sort it out.
If a price changes, the new price applies from your first renewal after we announce it, never to a period you have already paid for.
Fair use
Please do not:
- get around the free allowance or a plan limit, for example by rotating IP addresses or sharing one key between unrelated people;
- publish your API key or resell raw access to the API;
- upload material you have no right to process, or anything unlawful;
- attack, overload or probe the service.
We may throttle traffic or revoke a key that does these things. Where it is a mistake rather than abuse, we will write to you first.
No guarantees
The service is provided as it is. We work to keep it fast and available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free, and we may change or retire features. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes, law and contact
If we change these terms, the new version is posted here with a new effective date, and a change that takes something away from paying customers applies from their next renewal. These terms are governed by the laws of Texas. Questions to hello@darkvectorcognition.ai.
